Love Letter: The Love You Deserve (2/15/23)
Happy day after Valentine’s Day! How are you feeling? Kate and I have done multiple podcast episodes about Valentine’s Day through these past few years and if you’ve been following, you know that I enjoy the day. I don’t put pressure on this day and there’s no performing on this day, but it is a cute day to be intentional with our love.
I like to think of Valentine’s Day as a day to remember that love is what matters. Like the love we share with ourselves, with family and friends, not just romantic partnership.
Your relationship status means nothing about your worth or how lovable you are – may you always remember that.
Your midweek mantra is, “My presence is a gift and I’m worth being listened to.”✨
We are always reaching for each other in our relationships, wondering if we are seen, known, or if we matter.
In a securely attached relationship, when we reach for our partner, our partner responds. We call these “bids for connection.”
💘 Listening is a love language.
💘 Presence is a love language.
In this wild and fast-paced world, people are becoming more and more disconnected, and it’s becoming harder for people to be present.
What so many are craving, however, is intimacy.
Intimacy requires presence. It also requires listening, really receiving another rather than listening and preparing a response.
It takes courage to listen to OURSELVES too.
If we don’t make space for ourselves and our inner truths, how can we expect to do that for another?
Give yourself the gift of Love by being willing to listen to your own heart. Give your loved ones the gift of your presence by really listening and putting that phone away.
Develop rituals of time together where you connect with a partner versus getting into bed and you’re both on your phone. Pay attention to who is capable of being present with you.
Make sure you have time each day where you are with yourself without your phone, maybe going for a walk or journaling. Time where you aren’t taking in outside information and instead making room to hear your inner truths.
Check out The New Truth podcast episode from this week, “How to Know the Difference Between Lust & Love.” In this episode, Kate and I show you how to clearly identify if you’re falling for lust or deeply in love. Confusing lust for love is one of the key reasons why women rush the beginning of relationships, get swept away, and lose sight of themselves in the process. If you are ready to experience real love, this episode is for you.
I love you,
